Dysport is a similar product to Botox®. It has the same mechanism of action, that is, blocking the movement of the facial muscles where it is injected. Dysport is measured slightly differently than Botox®, and for some patients it may be more effective, particularly if they don’t respond to Botox®.*
Like Botox®, Dysport contains dilute amounts of a botulinum toxin (abobotulinumtoxinA), and relaxes specific muscles so that they can no longer contract and cause the skin to wrinkle.* The most common areas treated are between the eyebrows (glabella), forehead lines, and crows’ feet. Treatment with Dysport is not very long lasting, but lasts for several months.* Treating areas where wrinkles tend to form due to overactive muscles may actually prevent or slow the formation of those wrinkles.*
